Hörmann torsion spring for garage doors

This original Hörmann torsion spring can be recognised, for sectional doors delivered from 06-1999 onwards, by the aluminium plate attached to one side of the spring. On this plate there is a 3-digit number with an L or an R in front of it. We recommend always replacing both springs to restore the balance in the door in the best possible way. The older spring is stretched and thus gives way faster than the new torsion spring. In this case, too much weight is placed on the new spring and it can quickly break again. Therefore, always replace both sectional door springs.

The designation of the spring L (left) or R (right) does not mean that the spring should be installed on the left or right. Check the winding direction for each spring For a Hörmann sectional door, 2 different springs are partially installed, e.g. 1 x R703 and 1 x L700. Therefore check both spring lengths.
